More than just a football stadium

Melbourne Rectangular Stadium - 16/05/2009

The construction of Melbourne’s new Rectangular Stadium has captured the imagination of many a football fan in this town and in my latest au.fourfourtwo.com blog I put forward that this building is much more than just a stadium and expose myself as an architect in the process.

A Storey to tell

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

About a month ago I asked for suggestions I asked for questions that I could ask former Melbourne Victory player, Simon Storey for an upcoming article. I didn’t get much response but did manage to come up with a number of questions myself and put them to Simon. If you want to read the finished product from those questions just head over to au.fourfourtwo.com to read my latest blog post.

On another note its disappointing to see that Kaz Patafta may not get a contract renewal at the Newcastle Jets. He seems to be one of the enigmas of Australian football, a player who seemed to have it all when he signed with Benfica not long after captain the U17s in Peru, but now can’t get any game time in Australia. Maybe it was the wrong decision to return back home when he did.

Local support

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

I have been really enjoying the Victorian Premier League of late. This is particularly due to the fact that the Richmond Eagles are sitting on top of the table after five rounds and are yet to taste defeat. We are also in the great part of the season when the weather is still relatively balmy and not too many layers of clothing are required. Local football is also my topic of discussion for my latest blog post for au.fourfourtwo.com which can be read here.

What to ask?

I am currently putting together some questions to ask former Melbourne Victory player, Simon Storey for an upcoming blog post for au.fourfourtwo.com. Do you have anything you want asked?

Off season antics

In order to keep myself amused during the A-League off season I have taken to writing reviews and previews for au.fourfourtwo.com of the goings on in 2009 season of the Victorian Premier League. You can read my first effort here.

Bitter and twisted weekend off

Monday, December 15th, 2008

Not much going on this week, with Melbourne having the week off due to Adelaide playing in the Club World Championships. I had been trying to organise an interview all week with a Melbourne Victory W-League player for my 442 blog but to no avail, so instead I chose to write about why I can’t support Adelaide in any sort of international competition. In fact, it probably would apply to most other teams in the A-League as well. You can read it here.

Three times lucky

Raising the flag

It was a great win by the Victory on Friday night, although not without its fair share of luck to make it three wins on the bounce with a three point cushion on top of the table. For a more detailed analysis on Friday’s events by yours truly check out my latest blog post at au.fourfourtwo.com.

There was also a nice touch from the Northern Terrace as they paid tribute to Johnny Warren circa the anniversary of his death. Unfortunately I was unable to capture it on my camera but I did manage to capture them unveil a giant Eureka flag in a pointed response to the recent controversies regarding this most potent of rebellious icons.

For other photos from the night along with some photos of the new rectangular stadium under construction, check out my Flickr site.

A great performance and some bad facial hair

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Friday night was a great performance from the Victory. It was a game that certainly had me on the edge of my seat. For my thoughts on the game, visit my blog on au.fourfourtwo.com.

On another note, as part of Movember, I will be trying my best to grow some bad facial hair. If you want help me raise some money for a good cause, please feel free to donate here or you can just visit mospace page. I promise I will post some photos as it progresses.
